With a Focus on Integrity, Service and Innovation, Neighborly’s New Leadership Builds on a Legacy of Success

If you look up the word “neighborly” in the dictionary, you’ll see that it means friendly and helpful, just like a good neighbor should be. So it makes sense that Neighborly, the world’s largest home services company, embodies these qualities.

Neighborly is dedicated to providing top-notch, reliable home services that make their customer’s lives easier and their homes a better place to live. From plumbing and electrical work to landscaping and home maintenance, Neighborly has the entire house covered. The company strives to make every customer interaction pleasant and helpful, from the initial call to the finished job. Although that sounds like a simple concept, customer service is something that many home service businesses get wrong and Neighborly gets right.

Founded in 1981 in Waco, Texas, the company has grown into the world’s largest home services franchisor. Initially called the Dwyer Group, it rebranded as Neighborly in 2018 to better represent its commitment to enriching communities.

ShelfGenie and Aire Serv are two brands in Neighborly’s portfolio.

Today, Neighborly includes more than 30 home service franchise brands and serves more than 10 million customers in six countries. The company has grown significantly through strategic expansions and ownership changes, including an acquisition by global investment firm KKR in 2021.

Neighborly’s success is driven by a culture of respect, integrity and customer focus, creating a supportive and trustworthy environment for both franchise owners and customers.

A New Chapter for Neighborly

Taking the helm as Neighborly’s new CEO, Mike Davis recently stepped in following the tragic passing of Mike Bidwell in September 2023. Bidwell’s tenure was marked by a long and successful career with the home services company, serving as president and CEO for nearly a decade. His dedication to Neighborly left an indelible mark, guiding the company through substantial growth and fostering a winning culture.

Now, under Davis’s leadership, Neighborly is poised to build on this strong foundation. Davis, bringing his own vision and expertise, aims to lead the company into a new era of innovation and continued success. This transition honors Bidwell’s legacy and promises exciting new developments for Neighborly’s future.

Davis was drawn to Neighborly for many reasons. “With Neighborly’s extensive portfolio of 30 brands, its collective intelligence is significantly enhanced, offering a wealth of knowledge and experience,” Davis explains.

Home is where people create lasting memories.

He also appreciates Neighborly’s shareholders. “KKR provides a growth-minded thought partnership,” Davis says. “Their expertise and support are instrumental in driving Neighborly’s success and innovation.” Davis looks forward to building on Neighborly’s rich history and strong leadership to benefit everyone involved — stakeholders, franchise owners and associates. “Most importantly, I’m excited about enhancing the consumer experience across our 30 brands,” he says.

He finds joy in helping people improve their homes and believes that making homes better enhances lives. “There’s something incredibly rewarding about knowing that our work directly impacts the comfort and functionality of someone’s home,” he adds. “Home is where people create lasting memories, and being part of a service that contributes to that is deeply fulfilling.”

Davis’s passion for home improvement aligns with his authentic leadership style. “You grow companies by growing believers,” he states. To him, this means being genuine, accessible, trustworthy and empathetic. He feels ready to direct the next chapter of Neighborly’s story.
