Marketing VP Aims to Re-introduce ‘Happy Joe’s Magic’ for New Generation of Guests
Happy Joe’s Pizza & Ice Cream has named Abby Rock vice president of marketing. Rock brings almost 20 years of sales and marketing experience to lead brand strategy, creative development, digital and social programs, and field support for Happy Joe’s franchisees. Her experience includes founding BAM Consulting QC and leading marketing for Neckers Jewelers, one of the country’s largest independently owned jewelry companies.
Also joining her on the leadership team are Ashley Balluff as vice president of training and culinary services, Jenny Culp as vice president of purchasing and supply chain, and Christopher Anschutz as vice president of restaurant operations.
“I’m most excited about reintroducing the ‘Happy Joe’s magic’ to a new generation,” Rock said. “Anyone who grew up in or around the Quad Cities [in Iowa and Illinois] knows exactly what that means — the birthday horn, the laughter, the games, the pizza that brought everyone together. My goal is to recapture that spirit while evolving it for today’s families, both in our existing communities and new markets. With more interactive game rooms, refreshed offerings and a renewed focus on community engagement, we’re creating a place where nostalgia meets innovation, and where every guest can make a memory. Joining a company that has shaped so many happy memories for generations felt like a chance to be part of something bigger than myself.”
Rock said marketing bridges the brand’s heritage and its future. “By sharing our brand story authentically — highlighting our family values, community roots and unique dining experience — we can strengthen our reputation, build loyalty and attract new franchisees who share our passion for spreading happiness.”
CEO, President and Chief Happiness Officer Tom Sacco said the new appointments exemplify Happy Joe’s focus on its franchise owners and restaurants. “Each of these servant leaders brings a service-minded approach and a proven expertise that will strengthen our foundation as we continue our expansion into new and existing markets,” Sacco said.
Smart, Strategic Marketing
Rock said smart, strategic marketing initiatives centered on local engagement are key to Happy Joe’s growth, including finding creative, low-cost ways to build relationships and visibility. “Whether it’s sponsoring a local baseball team, hosting charity nights or attending community events, genuine connection consistently outperforms flashy ad spend,” she said.
In her free time, Rock loves live music, local festivals and any chance to experience community events. She also enjoys cheering on her son at his BMX races or baseball games and supporting her daughter at her musical performances. “Those moments keep me grounded and remind me why I love working for a brand built on family, happiness and togetherness.”
