Backed By HorsePower Brands, This Painting Franchise Prioritizes the Customer Experience
When a Groovy Hues truck rolls by, people can’t help but notice. The catchy name and colorful logo make a strong first impression, but there’s more to the painting franchise than clever branding. Groovy Hues Painting is backed by HorsePower Brands and led by industry veteran Jeremy Morgan, who brings decades of home services franchise experience to the table. From his early days as a College Pro Painters franchisee to leadership roles across multiple brands, Morgan has built a career around helping entrepreneurs succeed.
With that experience, he now guides Groovy Hues Painting into the spotlight as a standout painting franchise. In this Q&A, Morgan shares his journey, insights into the home services industry, and what makes Groovy Hues unique.
1. Can you share a bit about your background and how you got into franchising?
My journey in the home services franchise industry began in 1996 when I purchased a College Pro Painters franchise to put myself through school while studying at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I owned the business for three years and had a really positive experience. Following school, I worked for the franchisor for nearly seven years, moving across the country twice before settling in the Philadelphia metro area. Over the course of my career, I have served several hundred franchisees while working with a few different home services franchise brands, the longest tenure being with CertaPro for about 10 years.
2. What drew you to the home services industry, and why do you find it exciting?
While I love helping clients find ways to enjoy their homes more, I am even more passionate about how the home services business creates opportunities for people to improve their lives. The stability of the home services market provides many opportunities for individuals to achieve their entrepreneurial ambitions and create economic opportunities for others in their community. While it may not be as ‘sexy’ as industries like finance or tech, it offers a meaningful way to serve others in the place that matters to them most — their homes.
3. What makes Groovy Hues stand out in the home services space?
At Groovy Hues, our brand promise is: Your Style…Made Easy! Our goal is to provide all stakeholders with the easiest, most efficient and streamlined experience possible. We achieve this by leveraging our systems and processes, which take a proactive approach to understanding and acting upon the needs of our customers and stakeholders. These processes encompass the entire customer journey while also aiding our franchisees in all aspects of running their businesses.
4. What trends are you seeing in the home services industry right now, and in painting specifically?
As in many other industries, the rise of AI and other new technologies is creating new opportunities and paradigms for our business. While we are actively leveraging these tools to help our franchisees improve their businesses, at our core, we remain a people business. We serve people in their homes, which is a deeply personal experience that requires us to connect with clients, understand their needs, and craft a customer journey that builds trust and confidence. At Groovy Hues, we are focused on balancing the use of new technologies to empower us while ensuring more meaningful interactions with our customers.
5. Who is the ideal franchise owner for Groovy Hues?
To borrow from Patrick Lencioni’s book, “The Ideal Team Player,” our ideal franchise owner is someone who is hungry, humble and smart! They are called to be an entrepreneur, ready to build a business for themselves and willing to roll up their sleeves to learn, engage and lead on a daily basis. This isn’t a passive investment; it’s about building and growing a profitable business enterprise. Our ideal owners are individuals who find meaning in the hard work of creating something that serves people in their communities and generates opportunities for others.
