Jennifer and Dale Taylor invested in a Granite Garage Floors franchise to pursue a longtime goal: financial independence and the chance to build something lasting for their family. Creating generational wealth was at the heart of their decision, and franchising gave them a clear path to do just that.

Granite Garage Floors is a simple, service-based business with a strong demand. The brand specializes in coating garage floors with a durable, high-end finish. The process takes just two days, and the results are long-lasting and add value to homes and businesses. The company is part of Threshold Brands, a growing family of home service franchises.

The Taylors opened their franchise in Bowling Green, Kentucky, in April 2025. They first learned about the opportunity through their oldest daughter’s partner, who had worked for a Granite Garage Floors franchise in Colorado. That sparked their interest and launched over a year of research. “We liked the simplicity of the business and the support from the franchisor,” Jennifer says. “It’s something we felt confident we could learn and manage together.”

Jennifer and Dale bring decades of combined experience to their new venture. Jennifer spent 28 years in retail management, while Dale built a career that spanned 18 years in recruiting and 20 years in construction and maintenance. Once they signed on with Granite Garage Floors, things moved quickly. “The first couple of weeks were a whirlwind. We were juggling our former jobs while getting the business up and running.”

Now, both Jennifer and Dale work full time in the business. Jennifer handles much of the day-to-day operations, and Dale is gradually shifting from hands-on installations to business development. Their son-in-law worked with them early on and may return full-time, which would help Dale fully focus on growing the business.

Thorough Training

Training played a big role in their successful launch. Jennifer and Dale traveled to the company’s Cleveland location to learn the installation process firsthand. Followed by the technical team spending a week on site in Bowling Green on the job prior to launch. “It was important for me to understand the work,” Jennifer says. “That way I can help when needed and train others down the road.”

The Taylors serve 23 counties in their region, and while they initially wondered if the rural setting would be a challenge, they quickly realized it was an advantage. “We don’t have much direct competition, and word of mouth has already been a big help,” Jennifer says. “We’ve had multiple jobs in the same neighborhood just from neighbors talking.”

While they’re focusing on residential jobs for now, the Taylors plan to expand into commercial work as their business grows. They’re also beginning to connect with realtors and builders and are leveraging Dale’s industry contacts to explore future partnerships and referral opportunities.

Marketing is a combination of guidance from the franchise and local efforts. They’ve earned BBB accreditation and held a ribbon cutting with the local Chamber of Commerce. Jennifer is now working with the Granite Garage Floors in-house marketing team to further grow awareness in their area.

As they build their business, the Taylors are also focused on creating a positive company culture. They’re deeply rooted in their community and live on a small farm with chickens, ducks, cats and fish. “We want to grow something meaningful that reflects who we are,” Jennifer says. “This is about creating a future for our family.”
