Dunsmuir Succeeds Longtime President Paul Linenberg

Gotcha Covered, a window treatment concept under the Five Star Franchising home services umbrella, has named David Dunsmuir president. He takes the reins from Paul Linenberg, who served as president of Gotcha Covered for 16 years. Other brands in Five Star Franchising’s portfolio include Bio-One, Five Star Bath Solutions, Mosquito Shield, 1-800-Packouts and Card My Yard.

Having spent his entire career in home improvement, Dunsmuir said he was familiar with Five Star Franchising and the growth potential of its brands. “Gotcha Covered is very well positioned to have substantial growth over the next few years, which is exciting,” Dunsmuir said. “We must, however, do it the right way. The right way is making sure every customer is an advocate for Gotcha Covered. We must delight each and every one of our customers.”

Linenberg said stepping down after 16 years has been emotional, but Gotcha Covered franchise owners are in good hands with Dunsmuir at the helm. “I could not be more pleased to know that David will lead Gotcha Covered into a bright future,” Linenberg said. “His impressive skill set, combined with his focus on the people aspect of business, give me the ultimate peace of mind to allow me to step away knowing that Gotcha Covered is in the right hands. I look forward to watching the continued success of Gotcha Covered from afar over the years to come.”

Leadership and Franchising

Dunsmuir’s prior leadership experience includes serving as vice president of sales and services for Lumber Liquidators, senior vice president of operations and sales for Cabinets To Go and COO of Re-Bath.

“I truly enjoy the technical aspects of franchising, what you can and can’t do,” Dunsmuir said. “However, the most rewarding aspect is the interaction with the franchise owners, helping them develop and grow and seeing the smiles on their faces when they accomplish a goal.”

He said important characteristics for franchise owners include personability and dedication to the customer. “Being administratively sound and understanding that a franchise is a partnership with the franchisor are also critical,” Dunsmuir said. “Stay focused on the customer and you will have a great experience as a franchise owner.”

In his free time, Dunsmuir enjoys watching soccer and attending concerts.
