Home-Services Companies Specialize in Restoration After Home Disasters

Five Star Franchising, a service-based franchise umbrella, has just made even more news in the franchise industry with another acquisition plus a start-up. The franchise parent, headquartered in Springville, Utah, has acquired 1-800-Packouts as well as set up and debuted 1-800-Textiles, a complementary operation. These transactions mark the sixth and seventh acquisitions since Five Star Franchising began in June 2021.

Since 2013, Packouts has provided varying residential services. It restores the contents of damaged homes, packs possessions and cleans homes, and transports possessions to its climate-controlled storage services and returns them once the restoration process is finished. Ball Ground, Ga.-based Packouts has more than 70 franchise territories in 22 states.

Five Star Franchising saw the need for launching Textiles when Packouts customers sought additional professional services after a home disaster caused water, smoke and/or fire damage to soft furnishings. The new company offers cleaning, restoration and transportation of textiles to storage – along with returning the items after home restoration is complete.

Packouts Kevin Loner CEO Stays On

Packouts CEO Kevin Loner, who established the company in 2015, will become part of the Five Star Franchising team as it grows the array of home services under its wing. “The Five Star family of brands’ franchise development, operations and marketing support will allow us to accelerate our expansion in new and existing markets,” Loner stated in a news release. He also said that Packouts, with help from Five Star, will be able to offer both enhanced support to franchisees and an improved customer experience for clients.

Five Star CEO Scott Abbott praised Loner for building Packouts into a “superb business” with top-notch operational excellence and customer service. He added that “the synergies between the two brands [Packouts and Textiles] are immense and will allow us to better serve customers and franchisees.”

Five Star’s Brands

In addition to Packouts and Textiles, Five Star Franchising owns Bio-One, Five Star Bath Solutions, Gotcha Covered, and Mosquito Shield home-services brands; ProNexis, which provides call-center and lead-generation services in support of home-services franchisees, is also a Five Star company. Mosquito Shield was added to the Five Star portfolio earlier this month. Five Star’s franchise brands have 700-plus territories within the U.S. and Canada.

Five Star Franchising is backed by Princeton Equity Group, a private equity firm that acquires franchisors and multi-unit companies. Princeton Equity Group takes long-term stakes in businesses and works with these companies’ founders and managers to greatly increase the value of their enterprises.
