Empower Brands Acquires Koala Insulation and Wallaby Windows

Umbrella Franchisor Now Has 9 Brands in Portfolio

Koala Insulation and Wallaby Windows are becoming the eighth and ninth franchise brands within the Empower Brands portfolio. These two companies will bring 115 additional franchisees under the Empower Brands umbrella, which is made up of brands with a focus on commercial and residential services. The acquisitions of Koala and Wallaby are the first since Empower rebranded from the previously separate Lynx Franchising and Outdoor Living Brands in November 2022.

In a news release announcing the acquisitions, Empower Brands CEO Scott Zide said his company has “set out on a mission to expand our portfolio with industry-leading brands to better provide for our customers and franchise owners.” Zide added that “Koala Insulation and Wallaby Windows make the perfect addition to our growing family of brands. With a focus on championing the success of our franchisees, Empower Brands will help position Koala Insulation and Wallaby Windows for continued rapid growth and strengthen the training and support provided to the franchisees.”

About Koala and Wallaby

Melbourne, Fla.-based Koala Insulation has a national presence with 100-plus franchisees serving 400 territories. The company, which was started about three years ago by Scott Marr, has been ranked on Entrepreneur magazine’s 2023 Fast Growing Franchise list as well as in its Franchise 500 ratings. Marr also was the entrepreneur behind Wallaby Windows, which he founded early last year. The still-emerging brand specializes in replacement windows and doors. After Wallaby demonstrated its proof of concept in its home market, the company was gearing up to grow nationwide via franchising. Virginia- based Empower Brands will now assist with the expansion plan.

In the news release, Marr said that while his companies had “already experienced exceptional growth, the support and resources under Empower Brands will allow us to expand even further. Empower Brands has a proven track record for not only growing brands but fostering a franchisee-first culture.” With Empower behind us, he said, “I’m confident we can accelerate our growth even more and strengthen the training and support we provide our franchise owners.”

The two brands join Archadeck Outdoor Living, Conserva Irrigation, FRSTeam (fabric and electronics restoration), Intelligent Office (providing workspaces and services to small businesses), JAN-PRO (cleaning and disinfectant systems), Outdoor Lighting Perspectives and Superior Fence & Rail in Empower Brands’ diverse suite of service brands.

Empower Brands has set a goal of totaling 12 or more brands by the end of this year, according to the news release. Empower Brands is a portfolio company of MidOcean Partners, a private equity firm that invests in successful, growth-focused franchise businesses.
