Fish Brings Extensive Experience Working with Collegiate and Professional Athletes

D1 Training, a fitness and enrichment franchise, has named Jeff Fish senior director of coaching. Fish is responsible for creating a consistent coaching experience at each D1 facility.

His more than 30 years of experience includes working as a performance director and strength and conditioning coach with professional and collegiate teams. His work in the NFL, which earned him a Super Bowl ring, included stints with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, Atlanta Falcons, Seattle Seahawks and Phoenix Suns, as well as 15 NFL Scouting Combines. His tenure in collegiate athletics included work with Missouri, Clemson and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

“I had been in the D1 system previously and believed in the mission set by founder Will Bartholomew and the values the company stands for,” Fish said. “I was approached about this position and was immediately excited about the opportunity to be part of this first-class team. I look forward to working closely with the various departments within the home office and coaching all of the coaches in the system.”

Fish credited his experience in professional and collegiate sports and the private sector for preparing him “in unique ways to mentor coaches, understand how to apply sound principles in a variety of situations, and appreciate the details and work ethic needed to be successful in the D1 model.”

Pathway to Success

Fish said D1’s continued success centers on avoiding the traps of complacency by evaluating processes and finding ways to improve on them. “Those things are critical to sustainable success and show a mindset of competitiveness. The D1 vision is rooted in all of that. We all have that trait to compete and be better than yesterday, and that’s what differentiates D1 and has driven the success of the brand over time.”

D1 founder and CEO Bartholomew said Fish will help take the fitness franchise to the next level. “His innate knowledge of sports training is invaluable as we continue to grow our footprint as a brand. From our youth athletes to our seasoned professionals, we are committed to providing unmatched training to further athletic development, and we are confident Jeff will set a consistent standard across all facilities,” Bartholomew said.
