Bruster’s Real Ice Cream Celebrates 30th Anniversary

Bruster’s Real Ice Cream was founded on July 13, 1989 by Bruce Reed, the “Bruce” in Bruster’s, whose passion for extraordinary ice cream and stellar customer service runs deep. Born into the restaurant business, Reed opened his first Bruster’s in Bridgewater, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh after perfecting his recipe for rich, creamy homemade ice cream.

Now, 30 years later, the company has maintained a commitment to its founder’s passion. And to do so, Bruster’s leverages a business model centered on franchisees. Together, the company and its franchisees focus on what it does best – creating a premium product that is never deep frozen, but instead made fresh daily in the stores in which it is served. With its ability to control the process from cow to cone, Bruster’s is redefining what it means to serve customers ice cream that is a scoop above the rest.

A family-focused business, Bruster’s remains one of the last privately held ice cream franchises in the country. From scoopers, to Certified Ice Cream Makers, franchisees, community partners and customers, they’ve all been welcomed into the Bruster’s family. And with nearly 200 stores, 140 owners and incredible things to come, Bruster’s Real Ice Cream is ready to remain at the forefront of its industry.
