Long-Time Customer Karen Diaz Meaike Brings Blushington’s Beauty Services to Florida
Karen Diaz Meaike is making history as the first franchise owner of Blushington, a beauty franchise that offers makeup applications, skincare treatments and blowouts all under one roof. Blushington prides itself on making these services accessible and affordable through a personalized, customer-focused experience. Diaz Meaike, who will open Blushington’s first franchise location in Boca Raton, Florida, has been an enthusiastic customer for years.
Transformative Experience
Diaz Meaike’s journey with Blushington began when she needed professional makeup services for an event. Her experience at Blushington was transformative, and she soon became a regular customer. Some of her visits became a cherished tradition with her mom before their annual trip to the opera. “We would get our makeup and hair done before our night out, and it made our mother-daughter time so much more special,” Diaz Meaike recalls.
Her love for Blushington eventually turned into an entrepreneurial dream. Diaz Meaike, who has a social work and real estate background, had always wanted to own her own business. The timing was right for her as her children were more independent, and she was ready to focus on something new. “I didn’t want to go back to a nine-to-five setting. I wanted to do something that excites me, and Blushington was a perfect fit,” she says. “Every single time I’ve gone into a Blushington, I would say to myself, ‘How cool would it be to own something like this?’”
A Unique Business Model
Blushington sets itself apart for its commitment to customer service and personalized experiences, helping every client leave feeling confident and empowered. Every artist at Blushington is trained across all services, which not only enhances employee retention but also ensures that clients consistently receive high-quality care. This approach has fostered a loyal customer base. “Our vision centers on building confidence and helping clients be the best versions of themselves,” says Natasha Cornstein, Blushington’s CEO. “This is a completely inclusive environment. We cater to all hair and skin types.” In addition to its three core services, Blushington has recently started offering wig styling services.

Path to Franchise Ownership
For Diaz Meaike, becoming a Blushington franchisee was a natural step. After years as a passionate customer, she was intrigued when she learned that the brand was considering franchising. “I put my name on the list of interested parties, and the rest is history,” she says.
Now, Diaz Meaike is finalizing her Blushington location in Boca Raton. The new shop will be in a bustling strip mall in West Boca, anchored by a Publix supermarket and surrounded by other service-oriented businesses. “It’s a busy area with a lot of community engagement, making it the perfect spot for Blushington,” she explains.
The Role of a Pioneer
As the first franchisee, Diaz Meaike is taking on a pioneering role within the Blushington franchise system. This comes with both challenges and rewards. “I’m honored to be the first franchisee. It’s a learning curve for both the company and me, but I feel very supported by the Blushington team,” she shares. She appreciates her collaboration with the team, especially Cornstein, who has worked closely with her to find the ideal location. “Natasha and I have pounded the pavement. We’re learning together — which is something that I feel very comfortable about — and it’s been a great experience so far,” she adds.
Diaz Meaike’s two children (above) are also excited to see their mom embark on this entrepreneurial journey. Although both are currently students — one in graduate school in New York and the other in college in Atlanta — they are cheering her on from afar. She sees them getting involved in the business in the future. “They love all things business and are really excited to see their mom take on something new,” she shares.
In addition to her business ventures, Diaz Meaike is deeply committed to philanthropy, particularly in female empowerment and supporting women and girls. She actively participates in various initiatives aimed at uplifting and encouraging women to reach their full potential.
Looking Ahead
Diaz Meaike is focused on the next steps, which include finalizing the lease, hiring an architect and beginning construction. She hopes to open the new Blushington location by the end of the year or in the first quarter of 2025. “We want to be very thoughtful and planful in our approach, making sure everything is perfect for our grand opening,” she says.
She is passionate about the impact she can have on the community and is focused on ensuring that the staff at Blushington Boca can deliver the same high-quality services that have made the original New York City-based shop so successful. “We want to make sure that everyone who walks through our doors has an amazing experience, just like I have,” she says.
Blushington Locations
Blushington’s expansion into franchising is happening as the beauty industry is thriving. According to Statista, the global beauty and personal care market is projected to reach $646 billion in revenue by 2024, and is expected to grow at an annual rate of 3.33% from 2024-2028.
With a goal of 130 franchise locations by 2028, Blushington is targeting key markets like Atlanta, California, Texas and Las Vegas. As the brand’s first franchisee, Diaz Meaike is thrilled to be an important part of Blushington’s story. “This is my new baby,” she says. “I am excited to start this new chapter and be part of something that empowers people in our community.”
