BizCom Associates Acquires Brand J Marketing Team

Deal Enables BizCom to Handle Comprehensive Development and Marketing for Franchises 

BizCom Associates, a highly rated public relations agency for franchises, on Saturday disclosed its acquisition of franchise marketing and lead-generation firm Brand J. In a news release, BizCom CEO Scott White said Brand J will operate as a separate division under the BizCom umbrella that includes BizComPR, Digital BizCom and BizCom Design. No Brand J staff changes are planned.

With the acquisition of Brand J, BizCom’s services now include crisis communication, digital marketing, franchise lead generation, graphic design, influencer campaigns, personal branding, public relations, video production and website design. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Two of franchising’s leading PR, lead generation and development marketing agencies are joining forces to create franchising’s premier marketing firm,” said White, who co-founded BizCom in 1999 with Chief Operating Officer Monica Feid. “Brand J [formerly known as Brand Journalists] is one of the most respected marketing agencies in franchising, with a long history of delivering exceptional results for their clients.”

He added that the Brand J team led by CEO Jack Monson “is an exceptional collection of franchise professionals. Brand J clients will notice no change in the day-to-day service of their accounts. Rather, both BizCom and Brand J clients will now have access to even more services to grow their brands. Together we are now able to provide clients with a total franchise marketing solution and a way to consolidate budgets and multiple agency relationships.”

Reaction from Brand J   

Brand J founder Thomas Scott said the merger will be mutually beneficial, noting that “we’ve worked alongside BizCom for decades and together we’ve helped grow some of the most iconic franchise brands in the industry.” He will stay on board as a strategist and consultant.

“There are a lot of PE [private equity] acquisitions in the franchise industry today,” Scott pointed out, “and both firms want to remain privately held and committed to growing sustainable, responsible franchise systems. This merger helps us stand out as a supplier of choice in a rapidly growing industry.” 

Accolades for Both Firms

BizCom and Brand J annually land on Entrepreneur magazine’s top rankings for franchise suppliers, according to the news release. Together, they represent more than four decades of franchise public relations and marketing experience. 

Global Franchise magazine rated BizCom the top franchise public relations agency in 2023, the news release also said. For more than two decades, industry trade publication O’Dwyer’s has ranked BizCom among the nation’s best independent public relations agencies.
