April 2, 2007 - Alexandria, VA—Marvelous Market, a local favorite known for its chef-crafted, all natural food and gourmet convenience store atmosphere, is expanding via franchising in the Washington DC metro area. Ty and Kim Owens will develop two stores— their first Marvelous Market will open in the 2424 Penn Ave area of Washington, DC by fall 2007.
"As I researched franchising opportunities I knew that I wanted to get involved with an emerging concept that provided the support I need to be successful but also the opportunity to make a difference in the company," says Ty. "Marvelous Market was a perfect choice. I can’t wait to get my first store up and running."
Often referred to as a "mini Whole Foods," Marvelous Market combines quality and convenience. Offering bottled wine, fresh baked breads, pastries, desserts, sandwiches and salads, every entrée is made fresh over night using only the finest ingredients. For expediency, Marvelous Market products are self-service items—customers do not have to wait for food to be cooked, assembled and packaged. Virtually all of the products are pre-wrapped and specifically designed for easy accessibility.
Ty, a certified project manager, will work with his wife to open the stores however, Kim will manage both stores. She has over seventeen years of experience managing convenience stores in the Washington, DC area.
Marvelous Market currently has eight stores in the metro area and expects to grow to 50 plus units by 2008. This will be the third franchised location in the metro Washington DC area. The first franchised store opened on Capitol Hill in October 2006 the second is in development in Ballston, VA.
